Palembang Archaeologists Discover Hundreds Four Year-old Bury Jar



Archaeological Institute of Palembang, South Sumatra, found four jars buried in the village of Mount Kaya, Jarai district, Lahat regency which is thought to prehistoric relics was 600 annually.

"We've found four jars buried relics of prehistoric times was about 500-600 of the year, in the village of Gunungkaya, Jarai district, Lahat regency," said Chairman of the Research Team and Kilkenny Archaeological excavations Hall, Kristantina Indriastuti Sunday.


"The discovery of this megalithic objects after getting information from citizens homeowners, because while doing excavation ever found bits of jars and some jars themselves," he said.

Jar was found at a depth of 33 cm, 52 cm in diameter with a thickness of 1.5 cm, height 36 cm, and the discovery of a second at a depth of 5 cm by 67 cm diameter size jars, lip thickness 52 cm, 2.3 cm and a thickness lingkarnya height 65 cm.

While the third discovery in the depths of 13 cm from ground level, in the form urn in diameter 7 cm, height 55 cm, while the latter are found during excavation of debris since been destroyed.

"While the pottery is found only in the form of flakes, but so has a characteristic, like-sized fragments of ornament in the form of scratches and slashes form a rhombus, and these objects are usually used as a grave," he said again.
